Bonne Année

For the 31st of December we went to Limoges, Cedric's university town, to share a meal with the friends of Romain and Julie.

A big thank you should go to the hosts of the evening - Antoine and Cecillia who fed us 5 courses, and gave Cedric and I the best beds after their own, (There are definitely some advantages of being pregnant.)

Le Menu.

First the sea food -

prawns, crab, oysters, snails and salmon.

I was only able to take the salmon because of toxoplasmosis, but it was some of the finest from Scotland!

Second the foie gras -

this is duck liver. They gave me nice saucisson

Third the duck

with potatoes, green beans and chestnuts.

Fourth the cheeses

Now by this point in the menu New Year had come, been celebrated and then set aside to continue the eating. I missed these two courses as it was nearly 1am and I'm a light weight, but I later discovered that they were lovely

Lastly the desserts

A choice of Tiramissu, Chocolate Mousse, Caramel slices, sponge log or sweet oat biscuits - all home made by various of the guests

Next day all of the 11 guests who'd stayed over got up and ate left overs together around the table again. This time I got my cheeses (the non soft ones) and some lovely dessert.

Much more food than at any Hogmanay I've been at but probably as much alcohol though consumed alongside the food and in varying types, apperitifs, white wine, then red, then champagne.
And no one claimed to have a sore head the next day just much bigger bellies.

Mmmmmmm
