Speaking to the Southwark Possé

It was Friday night in Taizé, just after evening prayers and the time when almost everyone heads to Oyak to queue for 20 mins to buy a beer or cider.

I'd been in silence for 5 days and amidst the noise of all the different nationalities chatting and laughing together I had a strong hankering. I really wanted to chat to some British folk, make friends and share experiences. I decided to break my silence for a little while.

With this aim in mind I headed to the part of the building that sold hot beverages knowing with absolute certainty that where there is tea for sale there would also be some British folk. Here I met Matt, Robin, Joabe and Katie all living in the Southwark area (which is apparently near London Bridge.)

They were extremely welcoming and fun to chat with and I learned a little of the background of each. Matt works in Whitehall for the foreign office, Robin is also in Politics and has a great passion for forwarding the cause of fairtrade (amen), Joabec is a native Brazilian now priest in a church in Southwark and Katie is in the process of becoming a doctor and also likes to sing 'Green grow the Rushes O'

The above pic shows them near where I met them, this time on the Saturday night, for they were such lovely company I broke my silence again on the Saturday night for more chat and some mighty fine singing.

why not have a sing song with some people today?
