Smile

While pushing Finlay in the pram, from Rhymn Time back to home I met an ex teaching colleague who took early retirement. He looked so frail and different I was really struck by all of our vulnerability and the impermanence of life. Every day Finlay is also changing; a little more able to grasp at objects and get them into his mouth, a little stronger at standing on his feet, and more aware of who is speaking to him and where to turn his head.

Life is a blooming complicated cookie, but I'm finding that without a doubt being grateful for all the little things we have can make it happier. Today's pic is of Jim a volunteer at Messy Church. Though I don't know him all that well I'm really grateful for his positive friendly nature and his sage advice which he keeps giving me in the street - 'Are you looking after yourself love, have you stopped doing so much?'

Also grateful today that Finlay's having a good sleep, that my RE colleague's job has been made permanent, and that I'm going out for a drink tonight with Rachel. The guilty pleasure of just a few hours out of the house.
